If you want to get into email easily, and don’t want to worry about installing or maintaining software on your computer, there is a very easy answer.
GMail is the easiest and best place to have an email account today. You don’t have to install ANYTHING, and you can get to your email from ANY computer. All you have to do is open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) on any computer and go to http://www.gmail.com and login.
Y0u will find your entire email account with all of your email, folders, etc. ready for you.
The best part is that if you ever get a new computer or your computer crashes, you don’t have to worry about getting your email off of it. GMail stores all of your “stuff” “in the cloud” (on their servers, not your computer).
Here’s a video that walks you through setting up a gmail account.
Instructions to get a GMail Account
1) Go to www.gmail.com
2) Click the “Create New Account” button to create your new account
3) Fill in appropriate information and finish to get your new account
4) If you can’t get your name (i.e. firstname.lastname@example.org), then try for something meaningful that you and your contacts can remember
5) After you have an account, you’ll want to setup folders (called “labels”) where you can store your emails you get for later reference. Login www.gmail.com and let it be your only email account that you can access from ANY computer.
